Starwood Los Cabos Helps Endangered Turtles, Offers Family Travel Package

The Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar Golf & Spa Resort and The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos will once again participate in Los Cabos’ sea turtle conservation program and offer affordable packages that allow guests to experience the nesting of endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles on the resorts’ sandy shores.

Last year, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar and The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos oversaw the release of more than 4,000 sea turtles. Guests were able to participate in the releases, as well as learn about the nesting process and protection of the Olive Ridley turtle throughout the incubation and hatching season.

To encourage opportunities to witness the nesting and release of the sea turtles from now through November, the resorts have a choice of family packages and programs that provide additional savings.

The Sunsational Savings package includes a third night free at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar and fourth night free at The Westin Resort and Spa, a $100 -$150 food and beverage credit per room per stay, and a complimentary upgrade based on availability at check-in.

Rates per room, per night start at $175 at both the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar and The Westin Resort and Spa, Los Cabos. Tax is not included and rates are based on availability.

For those looking for a short getaway with their children, both resorts offer a Family Weekend package, which includes free meals for children under 12 with the purchase of each adult meal at resort restaurants, one in-room movie per night, a snack for each child (up to two children), and late check out at 4 p.m. Rates start at $199 per night (excluding taxes) with a two-night minimum.

Named for the olive-green color of its heart-shaped shell, the Olive Ridley turtle lives in all tropical and warm waters of the world. No matter where she travels throughout the world during her first 15 years, an Olive Ridley returns to nest on the beach where she hatched.
