Three Upcoming Mexico Hotels to Keep in Mind

In 2015 and 2016, Mexico is set to get a host of new hotel developments. Here are three to keep on your radar.

Hyatt Playa del Carmen

Opening this spring, Hyatt Playa del Carmen will be the first of many Hyatt plans to add to its Latin America and Caribbean portfolio. The resort will be located on Mamitas Beach, near Playa's 5th Avenue. The urban beach hotel will be one of the only non all-inclusive resorts in the city.

Amenities will include a spa and fitness center; two on-site restaurants; afternoon tea and cocktail offerings; dedicated event space and a business center.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun

In the fall, Hyatt will open a new property under its all-inclusive Ziva brand in the space of the former Dreams Cancun

Hyatt is putting the property through a full renovation and demolition to bring the property up to Ziva brand standards.

When it opens the property will have 11 new pools, room upgrades, and the construction of an additional building that will increase the number of rooms from 380 to 500. Added amenities include fire pits along the boardwalk, beach butlers, and s’mores on the beach with bonfires and tents for kids.

VieVage Los Cabos

Late last year Auberge Resorts Collection announced that it would add a new property under its VieVage Hotels and Resorts sub-brand in Los Cabos in 2016.

The development’s Phase 1 will have a boutique luxury resort with guest suites and contemporary beach villas for a total of 92 accommodations, nestled within the 1,200-acre Chileno Bay master development.

Amenities will include a 138-meter centerpiece pool complex with multiple levels, an oceanfront hot tub and fire pits, a main restaurant offering artisanal cuisine under the stars, a new Tom Fazio-designed golf course, an extensive spa, fitness center and movement studio, kids club, private residents’ lounge, and h2O Cave that serves as the resort’s watersports center.

Contemporary “baja” suites and villas will be designed to maximize ocean views and indoor-outdoor living.

This property will be the second property under Auberge’s new VieVage Hotels and Resorts lifestyle hospitality brand, which was introduced in June 2014.
