T+L's A-List Mexico Advisor Talks Luxury All-InclusivesAugust 26, 2014 By: Meagan Drillinger
All-inclusive luxury continues to be a popular trend when VIPs are jet setting down to Mexico. Travel Agent chatted with Zachary Rabinor, director general of Journey Mexico, a luxury tour operator based in Puerto Vallarta, and a member of Travel + Leisure’s A-List advisor list, who gave us his feedback on some of the popular all-inclusives south of the border.
Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita is one of the best known all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. Says Rabinor, “The Thalasso Spa is amazing and the resort is unique in its niche as a boutique, low-density all-inclusive property. There is unmatched F&B and service for an all-inclusive property. It’s more of what you would expect from the upper tier of boutique hotels. I was completely doubtful that an all-inclusive hotel could offer the type of culinary experience that I have experienced at Zoetry.”
Another AMResort property is Secrets Marquis Los Cabos. Rabinor tells Luxury Travl Advisor that it is an “amazing adults-only experience. It is top of the line for all-inclusive hotels in Los Cabos.” (Note: Rabinor also recommends Zoetry Casa del Mar.) “In particular the views are spectacular, offering some of the best iconic desert-meets-sea Cabo views in the Corredor. Be sure to request the fourth or fifth floor. There is an iconic open-air lobby and excellent spa, too.”
In Playa del Carmen, the Royal Hideaway Playacar offers another luxury all-inclusive experience. “It’s a classic adults-only experience,” says Rabinor. “There is excellent service and F&B. However,” he cautions,” it could us both soft and hard remodeling.”
There are two Grand Velas properties in Mexico, one in Riviera Maya and one in Riviera Nayarit. Of both, Rabinor says that they are excellent for families and groups, but sometimes can be crowded with corporate incentive groups.
