Mexico’s Gulf Coast was on alert last night as Tropical Storm Dolly moved ashore, according to the AP.
“The U.S. Hurricane Center said Dolly was located about 25 miles south-southeast of Tampico on Tuesday evening,” the article reports. “The storm’s maximum sustained winds were near 45 mph and it was moving to the west at 9 mph.”
Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to bring between 5 and 10 inches of rain to Tamaulipas and Veracruz, along the Gulf coast and inland. This translates to life-threatening flash floods and mud slides in mountainous areas. The force of the storm is expected to weaken over the next 24 hours as she moves inland.
On the Pacific Coast, Tropical Storm Norbert formed on Tuesday, as well. By the evening, Norbert’s center was 115 miles southwest of Cabo Corrientes. Norbert is expected to move away from the southwestern coast early Wednesday and approach the tip of the Baja Peninsula on Thursday.
