Update: Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal Begin Restoration After Fire

Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal in Playa del Carmen are already starting restoration on the hotel after a fire broke out this past weekend. The hotel should be fully functional again by mid-December, according to a release by Iberostar. 

Meanwhile in the same release the hotel company explained that guests of Iberostar Tucan and Quetzal  will be relocated to Iberostar Paraiso

The official statement is as follows:  

“On Saturday, October 10, 2015, a fire occurred in isolated areas of our hotels Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal, affecting only common areas such as the lobby, restaurants, spa and theater. All other areas including rooms were not affected.

We have immediately begun recovery efforts in the affected areas and will be able to fully assess the damages within one week. Our goal is to have the hotels fully operational by mid-December, and once completed, our guests will enjoy newly renovated areas, and can expect as always, our award-winning excellence in service and quality.

At Iberostar, the safety of our guests and employees is a top priority. To ensure our guests’ well-being and comfort, and to follow security protocol, we have relocated all guests from Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal to the Iberostar Paraiso Complex as well as neighboring hotels.
Guests arriving at the hotels within the next week will be moved to the Iberostar Paraiso Complex. Regarding all other future stays, Iberostar will provide an update shortly.”
