The Swissôtel Chicago is undergoing a $10 million renovation to improve its lobby and the property’s commitment to responsible environmental choices. The renovation is expected to continue through March 2012.

Inspired by the style of the building’s original architect, Harry Weese, the updated lobby will add check-in pods for an easier check-in experience. Every front desk agent will work from a laptop computer, and concierges will sport tablets to provide quick access to any information guests might require. A projection of Swiss Circles by Jork André Dieter will hover near the entrance, changing color to reflect various moods throughout the day.

Also in the lobby, Amuse will offer small plates, specialty cocktails and wine pairings, as well as DJ-style music and a private room with seating, televisions and multimedia plugins.

The hotel will also renovate its meeting space to bring the aesthetic more in line with the property’s new Event Center, which opened in 2009.

During the renovation, the hotel intends to use eco-conscious materials as much as possible, including sustainable paint, rugs, carpet and tile.
