Foodie Report: Dining at the Matsuhisa@Badrutt's Palace Restaurant in Switzerland

Foodies already looking to plan that winter ski trip to Europe should look into the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland and its stylish Matsuhisa@Badrutt's Palace restaurant.

Only open in the winter, Matsuhisa@Badrutt's Palace opened in December of 2014 and serves a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Travel Agent was told that some of the most delicious dishes here are the black cod, the yellow tail jalapeno and the rock shrimp tempura. The restaurant opens daily at 7:30 p.m for the first dinner seating and again at 9:30 p.m. for the second seating. We were told the best seats are on the terrace and balconies facing lake St. Moritz.

About Nobuyuki Matsuhisa

At the age of 24 Nobuyuki Matsuhisa moved to Lima, Peru, where he opened his first restaurant. This period had a lasting influence on Nobu. From that moment on he began incorporating Peruvian influences into his cooking and laid the foundations for his individual specialities. After furthering his career with stints in Argentina, Japan and Alaskahe moved to Los Angeles, where after nine years he opened the first Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills in 1987. There are five Matsuhisa restaurants worldwide in Beverly Hills, Aspen, Mykonos, Athens and Vail. Characteristic of the pared down Matsuhisa philosophy there is a highly controlled expansion in only a select few destinations.

Happy 120th Birthday

Badrutt’s Palace Hotel has greeted its guests for 120 years and is celebrating this anniversary year in style with plenty of surprises. The hotel’s actual birthday, July 29, will be celebrated and 120 balloons carrying vouchers will be let off into the sky above St. Moritz and a Venetian Masked Ball will be the crowning glory of the evening, promising a journey through time. Travel Agent will be in attendance for the celebration and will be sure to tell you all about it.
