Le Passage to India Issues Update on Nepal Earthquake RecoveryMay 1, 2015 By: Newswire
Le Passage to India has issued an update on the recovery effort following the Nepal earthquake of April 25.
"While some of the UNESCO World Heritage monuments and old heritage towns have been destroyed, there are towns and monuments that are intact," Le Passage to India said. "The same goes for the country’s infrastructure as well. There are some hotels that have shut down operations to conduct internal checks and repairs. Barring few all roads especially on the tourist circuit are operational and in good condition. Both domestic and international flights have resumed operations. At this crucial juncture our thoughts are with the people of Nepal and we would like to contribute towards rebuilding this Himalayan paradise.
"We at Le Passage worked tirelessly and evacuated all our guests (except those who wished to stay back) who were visiting Nepal at the time of the quake."
The company has partnered with the local Village Development Council, near the heritage site of Changunarayan Temple about 10 kilometers east of Kathmandu, on a rebuilding effort through Le Passage Travel Foundation (Shaping Lives), Le Passage's in-house CSR Foundation. Those who wish to join the effort can reach out to Shaping Lives head Col Anil Alagh at [email protected].
As an immediate relief, Le Passage to India is in the process of making a contribution to an Indian charity recognised for its work in calamity zones by dispatching of dry rations from its relief base in Kathmandu and surrounding areas.
"As mentioned earlier, not every tourist spot and activity is off limits and one can operate tours to Nepal under some statutory conditions," Le Passage said. "If any of our partners is interested, then our teams will be delighted to build extensions and programmes to your existing itineraries or create special product proposals for your clients. We urge you to show solidarity with our Nepalese fellow citizens and take time out to specially promote this fascinating destination."
