Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Opens Temporary Flower Garden

April 1, 2009 By: Jena Tesse Fox

For two weeks, passengers and visitors will be able to enjoy a flower garden of 10,000 lilacs, and purple and white tulips in full bloom at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The garden comes with a traditional flower stall, and visitors can sit at picnic tables to take in the fragrances and colors.

Keukenhof, the world's largest flower garden, has chosen its 60th anniversary to display flowers away from its site (in the town of Lisse) for the first time. Keukenhof attracts more than 800,000 visitors every year, most of whom reach the gardens via Schiphol.

The mini-Keukenhof can be seen at Schiphol Plaza. It is en route to the buses that take people directly to and from the Keukenhof. The mini-Keukenhof has been made possible by the joint efforts of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Keukenhof and Aviflora.
