Korean Air Update
templeKorean Air has had a busy summer of roll-outs and awards. Last July, Korean Air ( participated as a launch customer at the rollout ceremony of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner at the Boeing Everett facility near Seattle. The 787 aircraft, dubbed “a super efficient airplane,” is made of composite materials instead of the aluminum normally used to manufacture aircraft, reducing the plane’s total weight and saving up to 20 percent more fuel. Korean Air has ten orders in for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and will take delivery in 2009, extending through 2013.

Also in July, the carrier claimed the world’s Best Economy Class 2007 in the Skytrax 2006/7 World Airline Awards, considered around the globe to be the leading independent monitor of passenger opinions.
These developments come on the heels of Korean Air’s expansion last December of its code-share relationship with Northwest. Korean Air presently flies from 13 North American gateways to Asia. "We fly from more gateways in North America to Asia than any other airline,” says John Jackson, Korean Air's North American marketing chief.  “With the added code-share routes, Korean Air will have code-share operations on 105 routes in the United States.”
