Inside Look at the Sheraton Boston’s Newly Renovated South Tower

The view from my room at the Sheraton Boston

Travel Agent recently returned from a weekend in Boston, where I was lucky enough to get a first-hand look at the Sheraton Boston’s newly renovated South Tower rooms.

I stayed in room no. 2161, a Deluxe Room with King Bed and some incredible views of the city and new, flat screen LG televisions. Agents should note that half of the rooms offer city views while the other half offer harbor views. I recommend the city views as the harbor is a bit in the distance.

I was also impressed with the nice subtle touch of a welcome bag with a handwritten note from the marketing manager. The welcome bag was filled with snacks, bottled waters and even postcards with a pen to write friends and family back home the old school way.

The bathroom was small but had all the fixtures I needed at a city hotel. I also probably would have have appreciated the simple off-white tile in the bathroom a bit more had I seen the previously tacky, hot pink tiles before the renovation.

The renovation of all of the 432 rooms in the South Tower were completed in April. The rooms in the North Tower were renovated about five years ago. The South Tower renovation was all cosmetic, while the North Tower involved the reconfiguration of some of the rooms. There are a total of 1,220 rooms here.

The most recent renovations also saw the addition of the new Green Tangerine Spa & Salon on the first floor of the hotel just to the left of the lobby.  This is where clients can grab a quick massage or get their hair, skin or nails done. The lobby furniture and elevators are also all brand new.

Also, Cafe Apropos, a restaurant serving breakfast on the first floor, was also reconfigured to make more space. Before the renovation, it could seat 220 clients and now can make room for 178. It was previously darker and a bit cramped and now offers more space as well as a brighter feel and higher ceilings.

Bottom line is the hotel had a great staff and great location, two key factors for clients staying in a city hotel. And everything just felt clean and fresh and inviting.
