Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced that its Westin Hotels & Resorts brand will develop the new Westin Monterrey, set to open in 2019.

The signing marks the debut of the Westin brand in Monterrey, which is Mexico's second largest city. The Westin Monterrey will join the brand’s portfolio located in key markets, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.

The hotel will be part of Punto Valle, the city’s most exclusive neighborhood, which will also include high-end office space and upscale shops and restaurants that cater to international and national business travelers as well as the city’s affluent residents.

With 180 guestrooms and suites, The Westin Monterrey will feature the brand’s signature amenities and services, including the Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath experience. The hotel will also have the brand’s wellness program, including the WestinWORKOUT fitness studio, a rooftop swimming pool and the Heavenly Spa, which offers the brand’s specialty wellness and beauty treatments. Two restaurants in the hotel will provide a variety of healthy culinary options alongside the brand’s SuperFoodsRx menus.

Currently, there are 14 Westin-branded hotels in operation in Latin America with two more hotels underway, including The Westin Monterrey and The Westin Cozumel, which will open mid-2016. In Mexico, Starwood currently operates 30 hotels across eight brands and 12 more are in development.
