New Year's Eve in New Zealand: Three-Day Rock Festival Kicks Off 2014

Those who prefer their New Year's Eve on the warmer side will want to check out the 11th annual Rhythm and Vines Music Festival in Gisborne on New Zealand's North Island. The festivities kick off on Sunday, December 29 and continue into the early hours of 2014.

Scheduled performers include Empire of the Sun, Flux Pavilion, Camo & Krooked, High Contrast, Danny Byrd, Metrik, Dynamite MC, Kill the Noise, Wiz Khalifa, Rudimental and Shape Shifter. The festival grounds are located among the vineyards of the family-owned Waiohika Estate. Three-day tickets for the Rhythm & Vines festival start at $229 with the option of purchasing combination festival and camp site passes.

Rhythm and Vines now runs for three days and is expected to host over 30,000 visitors this year. Gisborne, unofficially known as the chardonnay capital of New Zealand, is home to a number of boutique wineries, a coast line perfect for surfing and bragging rights as the place where Captain Cook first landed in New Zealand.
