11th Annual Hula Ho'olauna Aloha Festival Celebrates Japanese and Hawaiian Culture

Join the excitement in the 11th Annual Hula Ho’olauna Aloha Festival in Honolulu, HI. Taking place on July 7 and 8, 2012, the festival celebrates Japan’s love for the hula and bridges the two cultures through dance and friendship.

The celebration begins on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Ala Moana Center’s Centerstage at 10 a.m. with a hula exhibition featuring 46 exciting performances and will continue until 5:45 that night.

The celebration continues on July 8, 2012 at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s Coconut Grove with the Hula Hālau competition, hula demonstration and a Hawaiian Crafts and Products Sale. The Japanese hula competition will begin at 2:00 p.m. and feature both solo and group performances as the dancers compete for the title “Hula Ho’olauna Aloha 2012.”

This event is open to the public, free of charge; however seating at the hula competitions is reserved for friend and family of the participating halau and local residents with a valid Hawaiian state ID.
