Honolulu Festival Finale to Include Fireworks Display Over Waikiki

Got clients currently jet setting in the Aloha State? Tell them about a cool fireworks display set to kick off this Sunday in Honolulu.

The Honolulu Festival’s weekend of cultural festivities will conclude with the Nagaoka Fireworks Show over Waikiki Beach. The 15-minute pyrotechnic rainbow of colors will be accompanied by music broadcast by Hawaiian 105 KINE (105.1 FM).

Preceding the fireworks display will be the Waikiki Grand Parade of cultural performers, bands and imaginative floats on Kalakaua Avenue, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Presented by Nagaoka City, Japan, the Nagaoka Fireworks Show has been a huge hit with residents and visitors in its first three years, following the establishment of Honolulu and Nagaoka as sister cities on March 2, 2012.

The Nagaoka Fireworks have been held every year in Nagaoka, Japan since August 1, 1946. First held as an expression of Japan’s hope for a recovery from World War II, the fireworks are now intended to promote the desire for world peace.
