Oahu Cruises Offer Dolphin Sightings

May 26, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

Visitors to Oahu who miss whale season can take a Hoku Nai’a Dolphin Watch & Lunch Cruise to see some different marine life.

Departing daily from Wai’anae Boat Harbor at 9:30 a.m., the Hoku Nai’a cruises the best possible two-hour route for dolphin sightings. Other marine life, such as turtles and humpback whales (December – April), are common. Dolphin activities include crew of Certified Naturalists’ narration, video presentation and keiki program. The company offers a Dolphin Guarantee year-round.

Onboard, guests can have a buffet-style lunch including a gourmet burger with all the fixings, from grilled pineapple to avocado, Kamuela tomato, purple onion, Kula lettuce, cheeses and selection of sauces.

The 149-passenger Hoku Nai’a was custom built in 2007 with EPA compliant main engines and hybrid power generator for eco-friendly dolphin watching in Hawaiian waters. It also has a 360-degree observation deck, dining area, bar, restrooms and BBQ and swimming facilities.

The Hoku Nai’a Dolphin Watch & Lunch Cruise is priced at $68 for adults and $41 for children ages 3-11. The cruise without meal is $52 for adults and $31 for children. Transportation from the Waikiki area is available for an additional $20 per person.
