Waikiki Hotel Opens New Cafe

Outrigger Luana Waikiki has formally opened Protea Café, a new boutique restaurant located at the entrance to the Hotel. The restaurant is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Breakfast options at Protea Café range from acai bowls to sweet cranberry-walnut French toast and gourmet egg dishes. Guests can also enjoy illy coffee drinks, blended fruit smoothies and fresh-squeezed juices, including guava nectar, pineapple, orange and watermelon.
For lunch and dinner, starters include the Protea brushetta, Moroccan hummus, Kalua pork quesadilla. Salad lovers will enjoy a diverse selection, ranging from the signature Protea salad, with fresh Nalo greens, sliced almonds, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, gorgonzola and sun-dried tomato dressing to the mouth-watering Dijon potato salad. The sandwich menu  includes the crab BLT, Panini Italiano, Rueben Panini and chicken-salad croissant. 
Handmade thin-crust pizza and classic pastas complete the food menu; some pies include the signature Protea -- with toppings of caramelized sweet onions, mushrooms, spinach and gorgonzola cheese. Linguine, fettuccini and capellini pastas are topped with tomato, alfredo and white wine garlic-butter sauces.
Cool touch: The café's smoothie menu offers something for every palate, with healthy fresh fruit options to inspired cocktails (and beer and wine) for the over-21 crowd.
