Disney Ends Fuel Surcharges

disney_240

Disney Cruise Line has joined the majority of cruise lines in now eliminating fuel surcharges for all new bookings. The line cited decreasing fuel prices as the reason for the switch.

The line has established the following guidelines for the refund of fuel supplements to customers who have already paid it: "If the closing price on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) of West Texas Intermediate fuel is below $70 a barrel two weeks prior to the beginning of the calendar quarter, the company will refund fuel surcharges paid in the form of an onboard credit."

The elimination of the fuel surcharge for new bookings applies to sail dates through the end of 2010 and Disney says it will continue to monitor the situation as "a fuel surcharge may be necessary in the future."
