New Seabourn Promotion Deflates Shore Excursion Costs

First Seabourn announced savings of up to 60 percent on a host of sumer 2009 cruises, now it's offering savings of $1,500 per couple toward private shore excursions on most 2009 European voyages. Seabourn has created Between Friends—a new promotion designed to encourage small groups of three or more couples to reconnect and share experiences together. Guests who participate will receive an onboard credit of $1,500 per couple—or a total at least $4,500 per group—to be used for private shore excursions arranged through the line's Signature Service Desk.

"In these uncertain economic times, Seabourn guests are re-evaluating their priorities and placing more emphasis on the things that mean the most in life," said Seabourn President and CEO Pamela Conover. "Spending quality time with friends is a top priority during times like these, and that's why we created the Between Friends promotion."

Each group of friends can tour either together or separately, with their own guide, their own driver and their own private vehicle. Customized excursions can also be devised and arranged through the line.

Examples of private arrangements for groups include: joining a top Italian chef for a hands-on cooking class in Florence; a tasting tour in Rapallo, Italy, with specialty food expert Guido Porrati; a private yacht trip to Birla, Sweden to tour Viking Age ruins; and riding a mountain bike through the Mounts of Malaga in Spain.

The $1,500 onboard credit will be applied toward private shore excursions once the prevailing fare for the voyage is paid for, which includes early booking savings of up to 45 percent off the brochure fares. Also, at least one of the three couples in each group must first time Seabourn guests.
