Report: Disney Cruise Line Cuts Commissions

Disney Cruise Line has cut the commission paid to travel agents on cruises booked by customers who are already onboard one of the line's ships, The Orlando Sentinel reports. The commission, which had previously been capped at up to 16 percent depending on an agent's sales volume, was capped at 10 percent as of last week. Disney Cruise Line offers customers who book onboard various perks, such as reduced deposits.

"I believe that an agency earns that higher commission amount by bringing more clients aboard Disney Cruise Line and that it's unfair for them to say that they will pay a lower rate just because it's booked on-board," travel agent Kristy Ouellette told The Orlando Sentinel in an email."I do a lot of work educating my client on the benefits of booking while they are still on-board but, if I continue to do that, I'm basically giving a percentage of my income away."

Travel Agent has reached out to Disney Cruise Lines for comments and will update when we hear more.
