Silversea's Top Sales Execs Leave Company, Regent's Watson Rumored to Join SilverseaApril 1, 2009 By: David Eisen
As we earlier reported, Silversea has lost two of its top guns. Sources told Travel Agent that David Morris, Silversea's executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, and Marilyn Conroy, its senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas, both left the cruise line March 31.
Travel Agent was able to get in touch with Morris, who sounded upbeat, but was tight-lipped on the specifics of his departure. "Not good timing," he told us. Morris did say that he already does have future career plans brewing but was reluctant to give specifics. Check back next week: Morris tells Travel Agent that he will give us the scoop on his next moves.
As previously stated, no reason has yet been given on the duos departure. A replacement(s) has also yet to be formally announced, but Silversea did say that it "hopes to release a statement later today." Travel Weekly had earlier reported on rumors that Ken Watson, who is stepping down from Regent Seven Seas Cruises as executive vice president of sales and marketing effective March 31, may be in line for a
position at Silversea. Travel Agent was able to speak to a source who is confirming that Watson did, indeed, join Silversea, but the word is he will work on the operations side, not in sales.
Morris and Conroy, who were Luxury Travel Advisor's Leaders in Luxury for 2008, both worked at Crystal Cruises together before moving to Silversea. They were based in Silversea's South Florida offices and reported to Amerigo Perasso, Silversea's CEO, who is based in Monaco.
