Tour Operators to Resume Saudi Arabia ProgramsJune 5, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent
Some American tour operators plan to resume their Saudi Arabia offerings in the wake of the government's decision to ease visa restrictions for American travelers. Geographic Expeditions will offer a Saudi Arabia tour sometime in late 2006, or the spring of 2007. Company spokesman John Sugnet said the tour operator last ran Saudi Arabia tours in 2000. Meanwhile, tour operator Caravan-Serai will once again offer its Saudi Arabia tour in November after a five-year hiatus, according to the company. The Saudi government is allowing 18 Saudi tour operators to apply directly for visas for American visitors to the country. American tour operators like Caravan-Serai, based in Seattle, are working with their Saudi counterparts, according to Rita Zawaideh, a spokesperson for Caravan-Serai. The Caravan-Serai tour departs Nov. 23. Space is still open, according to the company. Contact Zawaideh at 206-545-7300 or 1 800 451-8097.
