The U.S. Travel Association applauded a reciprocal trusted traveler agreement between the U.S. and Republic of Korea.The agreement represents the first permanent trusted traveler program the U.S. has in Asia. Countries already in the program include Mexico, the Netherlands and Canada.
“The trusted traveler program increases security and improves efficiency for travelers,” said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association. “We applaud Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner David V. Aguilar for securing this agreement, and we look forward to additional countries being added to the program in the future.”
Pre-approved, low-risk travelers who qualify for the program use Global Entry kiosks and Smart Entry Service e-gates when arriving in the U.S., allowing members to be processed in a fraction of the time it takes travelers using the traditional inspection process.
