Allianz Announces Winners of “Scholartrips” Competition

Allianz Global Assistance USA has announced the winners of its 2016 annual “ScholarTrips” essay and video contest.

More than 70 students have received nearly $40,000 in prizes in this year’s contest, bringing total prizes awarded by the program to almost $150,000. Due to an overwhelming number of entries received, prizes were dramatically expanded for this year’s contest.

The ScholarTrips program seeks to recognize college and high school students who want to explore the world and has provided funding to contest winners since 2004. The contest requires students to submit a video or essay that answers the question: What inspires you to travel abroad?

This year, the company received a record-setting 1,200 entries. Six First Place winners received $2,500, Ten Second Place Winners received $1,500 and 25 Third Place winners received $500 each. Thirty other finalists received $50 gift cards. Each video or essay was scored based on its passion, impact and creativity. Samples of outstanding entries include Micah Stubbs’ “More than Potatoes,” Lalese Stamps’ “London Here I Come,” and Elaina Cole’s “Screen Saver.” Allianz Global Assistance hopes that winners will use their awards to help fund their desire to travel to new places and experience new cultures.
