JW Marriott Unveils New Luxury Hotel in Cusco, Peru

jw marriott cuscoMarriott International takes the JW Marriott hotel brand to new heights with the opening of JW Marriott Cusco, the brand’s first hotel built at its altitude of 11,154 feet above sea level in the South American Andes, satisfying the needs of clients who value a rich dose of culture with their vacation and/or business travel experience.

An anticipated addition to JW Marriott’s global brand portfolio, the new-build, six-floor, landmark hotel in Peru offers 153 guest rooms, a three-meal-a-day restaurant, signature specialty bar and lounge, full-service spa and meeting space for up to 130 clients, all steps away from historical sites that date back to the 13th century and right on the grounds of a colonial monastery.

The hotel features a highly customized design built around a colonial church and ancient Inca artifacts found on the site. The property epitomizes the approachable elegance that distinguishes the JW Marriott brand, a global portfolio of more than 50 luxury hotels and resorts. Few leisure destinations in the world compare with Cusco, designated a World Heritage site in the 1980’s and located in the Andes 11,000 feet above sea level.

JW Marriott Cusco’s 153 guest rooms include seven non-smoking suites, equipped with luxury bedding and the latest in technology, with supplementary oxygen-enriched systems available in all rooms upon request to alleviate altitude adjustments. Built at the site of the 16th century colonial convent of San Agustin, designated by the Peruvian government a National Cultural Heritage landmark, most rooms house original walls dating back as far as the Inca Empire. Other archeological observation areas throughout the hotel provide VIPs with a cultural experience before even setting foot outside.

The hotel’s main restaurant, Pirqa (the Inca word for “wall”) serves modern Peruvian cuisine in a setting inspired by Inca’s ancient architecture, and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Quespi Bar is JW Marriott Cusco’s signature specialty bar, serving iconic pisco sours and snacks inspired by local cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner, the adjacent Nina Soncco Lounge offers dining alongside a cozy fireplace.

The Spa at JW Marriott Cusco is inspired by the Inca calendar and their magic rituals, honoring the ancient culture with original treatments that include the Andrean Mud Wrap and Anta Situwai Purification Massage. The Spa spans 3,229 square feet, housing a relaxation pool, whirlpool, dry sauna and steam chamber.
