LAN Airlines and its affiliate LAN Peru, reported that from August 2012, they will gradually increase their frequencies, and in some cases double availability to major destinations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, with the goal of providing greater connectivity for passengers, delivering more and new travel options.
The strong increase in passenger flow in the region, North America and the Caribbean, has led the company to increase the number of weekly flights from the cities of Santiago, Chile and Lima, Peru in one, two or even three additional flights to destinations such as Mexico City, Cancun, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Thus, the airline expects to transport about 20 percent more passengers to and from these destinations.
Currently, LAN offers direct flights to major cities in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean, and additionally, through the oneworld alliance and codeshare agreements, flies to over 50 destinations in North America.
Similarly, in early 2011 the company signed an interline agreement with the U.S. airline, JetBlue Airways, enabling passengers to choose new and more destinations within the U.S. and the Caribbean.
The long haul routes on the continent are operated on modern Boeing 767-300 long range, which offer Premium Business Class, featuring full flat seats that recline 180 degrees, very comfortable for sleeping in a totally horizontal position and that only a select group of international airlines provide to their passengers, as well as a renewed economy class. In both cabins, a modern entertainment system is provided that places LAN Airlines and its affiliates among the companies with greater variety of programming on board in the world.
