Playa del Carmen’s Beaches to Be Reconstructed

The white sand beaches of Playa del Carmen, the hot-spot Mexican Caribbean town, are about to become even wider and nicer, as the government-sponsored machinery is starting to move to the coastal area.

The beach restoration started last week and is expected to be finished by the beginning of February. To cover 2.6 miles of Playa del Carmen’s beaches, about 2.6 billion cubic feet of sand will be required.

Condo Hotels Playa del Carmen, a group of five luxury condominiums clustered in the premier area of Playa del Carmen, also known as the “golden zone,” led the charge in convincing the government to move forward with the project that has been on hold for several years.

The work will commence at Constituyentes Avenue, where the Condo Hotels is located, and will continue along the beach. The beach expansion project will also result in the installation of four linked docks to be used by small boats, fishing boats among them. Four wooden docks will not only help preserve the beach and area, but will also give tourists who use boats the highest level of safety.

The beach looks amazing! I haven't seen it look like this in years. Can't wait to go back.
