Protravel Establishes Miriam Rand Scholarship

Protravel International has created the Miriam Rand Scholarship Fund in honor of Miriam Rand, who has long been known as "The First Lady of Luxury." Over nearly six decades, Rand has made vast contributions to the travel industry, and the scholarship fund will further the interests of students graduating from HunterCollegeHigh School, Miriam's alma mater, and help them participate in educational trips to other countries. Before becoming apart of the Protravel International family, Miriam was the owner of Rand Fields Travel Agency in Beverly Hills for more than 50 years. Her dedication and client commitment established Rand Fields as a major force in the luxury travel industry. "Miriam Rand set the pace and the standard for the carriage trade, and her contribution to our industry, through serving on numerous boards and mentoring so many, including me, has had a tremendous impact on our profession," says Matthew Upchurch, Chief Executive Officer of Virtuoso. "She is constant proof that jewels come in small packages." Rand still maintains a very active daily schedule in the Beverly Hills office of Protravel International and at 90 years young, she has no plans to retire. The Miriam Rand Scholarship Fund will be announced during the celebration of her 90th birthday on May 11.
