Celebrating 80 Years: Puerto Rico in 1985December 8, 2010 By: Melanie Gretchen
Known for its seaports and its cruise community, Puerto Rico has always invited visitors into its waterfront community. At travelers' fingertips were the city's seafood restaurants and close proximity in an hour's drive to the capital city of San Juan. (Read the whole article here.) Today, Puerto Rico is as enchanting as it as it exciting.
This year, the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) recognized Puerto Rico as the cruise ship hub of the region, and San Juan will host the sixth annual International Destination Expo (IDE) in 2011. AirTrain Airways and JetBlue have increased service, to begin next spring, and Embassy Suites' new casino joins Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino's new Zen Spa Retreat, among the region's latest developments.
As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we're taking a look at what was happening in the industry in the past and asking agents to share their thoughts on what has changed in the industry now. Please share your thoughts by posting a comment below, writing us at our Facebook page, sending a tweet to our Twitter page or by engaging in a discussion in real time at AgentNation (the only social community online for all kinds of travel agents, which certainly wasn't around 80 years ago). We want to hear from you.
