CasaMagna's New Spa

Travel Agent recently visited the CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta Resort to view its new 22,000-square-foot Ohtli Spa. Billed as the most spacious, complete-service resort spa in Puerto Vallarta, the facility contains a salon, a spa shop, an indoor free-form pool, multi-functional treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, and several open-air lounges. There's also the Iyari Grand Luxury Suite, a 280-square-foot room for couples or groups who want to share private treatments. The spa has two hydrotherapy circuits with foot baths and plungle pools

"Ohtli" means enlightened path in Aztec; the spa offerings are designed around traditional Mexican healing rituals and use local indigenous ingredients. Suggest signature treatments like the Fire Opal Balancing Stone therapy or the Agave Syrup, Cornmeal and Sea Salt scrub. We also liked the Piña-Mango firming body treatment; request staff members Gloria Cruz or Marisol Abreu.

Staying at CasaMagna

All 433 guest rooms (29 of which are suites) have private terraces; request rooms overlooking the pool and beach for the best views of the Sierra Madres mountains in the distance. The property also has two tennis courts, an oceanfront infinity pool and a children's pool.

Several restaurants on property offer flavorful Mexican specialties (every guacamole we tried was incredible), and the hotel's 24-hour room service menu has a wide-range of choices. Mikado, a Japanese sushi restaurant, is perfect for elegant affairs, and Champions Sports Bar is fun and familiar for a laidback lunch. For offsite dining, the Cafe des Artistes and Trio in downtown Puerto Vallarta are excellent picks.

The Grand Luxury Suite offers privacy and space

CasaMagna offers several unique activities to make your clients' experience memorable, like a gourmet cooking demonstration and tasting with Executive Chef Fred Ruiz or a tequila appreciation class.

We also recommend taking advantage of the offsite excursions that CasaMagna can arrange. A walk through Puerto Vallarta's downtown art scene, zipline canopy adventures in the jungle, ATV rides through the Mexican countryside and day-long sailing expeditions are a few of the samplings; the hotel's concierge will set your clients up with transportation and with experienced guides who will accompany them on such trips. (Our guide, Uriel Gutierrez, was both pleasant and informative and entertained us with description of life in Puerto Vallarta. We also found him to be a great comfort when traveling off-property, as he knew his way around town and could communicate casually with the Spanish-speaking-only locals.)

Agents may contact Simon Coulson, the resort's chief concierge, for help with bookings and to arrange clients' special requests. Reach him at 888-727-2347 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Visit www.casamagnapuertovallarta.com.
