Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit to Host Tianguis 2012

For the first time in 36 years, Mexico’s biggest tradeshow has a new home.

Tianguis Turistico, which has been held in Acapulco every year since the show debuted, will be hosted by both Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit won the honor of hosting the 2012 Tianguis over 18 destinations across Mexico.

Upon the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico’s (SECTUR) decision to select a new destination to hold the country’s most important tourism industry fair, Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit presented a proposal with the slogan, “Two Destinations, One Paradise,” offering 29,000 hotel rooms and a 16,000 square-foot convention center able to accommodate up to 7,000 participants and a modern international airport located within minutes of the convention center and many international hotels and resorts.

Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit participated in the bid to host Tianguis along with Boca del Rio, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Querétaro, among others.
