New Eco-Lodge in Queensland is Recycled

August 24, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

We've heard of green hotels, but one that's actually recycled? In Queensland, Australia, Wildman Wilderness Lodge has been recreated from the former Wrotham Park Lodge, and was transported over 1,700 miles to its new home. It is scheduled to open in March 2011.

Last November, a team of builders dismantled the former Wrotham Park Station Lodge in 28 days. Seventy percent of the materials were preserved for the move including power generators, the water treatment system, and the electrical infrastructure.

The Lodge will have 15 fan-cooled safari tents, 10 "new" air-conditioned habitats, and an additional five habitat replicas were built on-site. In addition, five of the safari tents are configured for groups and families of up to four people.
