Uncommon Journeys has announced a number of private rail excursions throughout the U.S. and Canada as part of its new 2017 itineraries. New routes include rail travel from Niagara Falls to British Columbia; Chicago through the Colorado Rockies, California and New Mexico; and a national parks tour visiting five National Parks of the West Coast.

Departing May 4, 2017, the Canadian Panorama tour, a 13-day excursion across Canada aboard The Canadian, offers guests first class comfort while traveling from Ontario to British Columbia. The Canadian Panorama makes Uncommon Journeys the first company to offer five full nights in the Canadian Rockies as part of a cross-Canada rail journey. Highlights of the trip include an overnight hotel stay on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls complete with a hornblower boat tour, traveling the Columbia Icefields Parkway and a snowcoach tour atop Athabasca Glacier, a four night stay at Banff’s Rimrock Resort overlooking the Bow River in the Canadian Rockies and a Sulphur Mountain gondola ride with a visit to Banff Hot Springs, among a variety of other excursions and destinations. Rates start at $4,995 per person/double occupancy including select meals, accommodations on board The Canadian and double occupancy for all hotel overnights.

Travelers can explore Reno, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Sacramento, San Simeon, Los Angeles, Catalina Island, Santa Monica and Santa Fe on the Great Western Explorer 14-day rail and motorcoach itinerary. Departing May 13 and October 21 of 2017, passengers will depart from Chicago aboard the Great Western Limited in the private Vista-Dome Steamliner train, with all meals, wines and spirits included. From $4,595 per person/double occupancy, the tour allows guests to ride the Yosemite & Sugar Pine Railroad and the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, take a cruise on Lake Tahoe aboard a sternwheeler with an overnight in Reno, dine on Olivera Street near the Santa Monica Pier, experience a one night stay near Yosemite’s valley floor and Bridal Veil Falls, as well as a variety of other opportunities and destinations included. The fare includes select meals, accommodations onboard the Great Western Limited and double occupancy for all hotel overnights.

The Best of the West tour will visit five national parks in June, July, August and September of 2017. The fully-escorted, 15-day “ultimate American holiday” will explore the National Parks of the West, including Arches, Canyon Lands, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Like the Great Western Explorer, the Best of the West Tour departs from Chicago on the Great Western Limited, but heads to Grand Junction, Colorado, overnight through the Colorado Rockies offering guests meals, afternoon tea, and onboard wine and spirits included. The tour will spend three nights in deluxe lodging in Moab, Utah, two nights in Salt Lake City, two nights in Yellowstone and two nights in Whitefish, Montana, before departing Glacier National Park to return to Chicago. Guests of the tour will see sights like Old Faithful geyser, Fairmont Hot Springs, the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, the Silver Dollar Bar and more. Prices start at $5,195 per person/double occupancy including select meals, accommodations and hotel overnights.

For journeys on the Great Western Limited, sleeping accommodations include standard double bedrooms, superior double bedrooms and single bedrooms and suites. All room types provide Pullman beds, pillows, nightly turn-down service and in-room baths. There are Pullman Sections with upper or lower berths available as well.
