Avalon Artistry II Christened in Middelburg, Netherlands

Avalon Waterways christened its newest Suite Ship at a canal-side ceremony in the Netherlands. The 64-stateroom Avalon Artistry II made its debut in the Dutch town of Middelburg where it was christened by Philippine travel industry professional Marilen Sandejas-Yaptangco.

“In Europe, the rivers are the pulse of the continent, carrying ships and their passengers on journeys of both work and pleasure,” said Ms. Sandejas-Yanptango, as part of her godmother blessing. “May all who sail on these rivers in this beautiful vessel enjoy their voyage and take home the joy and friendship of a shared journey.”

The Avalon Artistry II is one of two Suite Ships being christened in Europe this spring. The Avalon Expresssion will debut in May, christened by Patricia Schultz, author of the international bestseller book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.

The suites on the Avalon Artistry II and Avalon Expression have a large seating area adjacent to a wall-to-wall panoramic window. When opened, this 10 foot by seven foot floor-to-ceiling window transforms the entire suite into the category’s only Open-Air BalconySM. The Suite Ships also have a club, main lounge, dining room, hair salon, sky deck whirlpool and open-air bistro for outdoor, grilled lunches. In addition, the fitness rooms aboard the Panorama, Visionary, Vista, Artistry II and Expression are larger.
