Avalon Waterways Unveils First-Ever Suite Ship

Avalon Waterways is unveiling the industry's first "Suite Ship" in 2011, which will include new luxuries such as seven-foot panoramic windows leading to open-air balconies, 200 square feet of living space, the fleet-wide premiere of the Comfort Collection by Avalon — a series of bedding options — as well as high-end touch-points like L'Occitane toiletries.

In addition to boasting 17 Avalon Deluxe Staterooms on the lower deck (measuring 172-square feet), the Panorama features 64 newly designed Panorama Suites positioned on the top two decks.

The new Comfort Collection by Avalon provides travelers a choice of posh pillows as well as orthopedic mattresses, European-style duvets, Egyptian super-combed cotton linens, extra blankets and bed configuration options.

Guests will also discover Avalon's new-for-2011 "Dine by Design" enhancements, which are meant to reignite its cruisers' culinary experience. Dine by Design includes: a choice of appetizer, salad, entrée, cheese and dessert; local fare options at each meal; a highlighting of sustainable cuisine on French itineraries; more healthy options like low calorie, low sodium and glucose-free cuisine and the introduction of Night Fare, served at 10:30 PM to cap off each day with a treat.

Although Avalon already offers Early and Late to Rise breakfasts, now cruise goers can quaff complimentary sparkling wine and take advantage of made-to-order egg stations - guests can also have the continental breakfast served in their room.

As a final celebration of the pending new year, Avalon is also expanding its highly-touted themed voyages with its new eight-day Art & Impressionist cruise, set to sail on the Avalon Creativity in November 2011, priced from $2,349.
