Scenic Cruises Expands its France River Cruising Program

Scenic Cruises has expanded its France River Cruising program for 2013 with the addition of a 14-night cruise from Amsterdam to Nice. This sailing combines a seven-night Amsterdam-to-Basel cruise and a new seven-night Chalon-sur-Saône-to-Arles cruise in either direction.

Highlights include dinner in the home of a local French family near Tournon, learning about their everyday life and foods; a visit with local vintner and wine tasting in the Beaujolais village of Oignt; taking electric-assist bicycles out for a spin on the paths along the Rhine River near Koblenz; and visiting the Hockenheim Formula 1 track, including entry to the museum and an i nsider tour of the circuit. Prices for the March, April and September departures range from $6,290 to $10,140 per person, double including free flights to Europe for guests booking standard staterooms (D&E category) if booked by Sept. 30, 2012.

Fare includes unlimited complimentary beverages, all meals, private butler service and Wi-Fi, as well as airport transfers and all tipping and gratuities on board and ashore. This itinerary spends a night in the canal city of Amsterdam and before setting sail along the approximately 600-kilometer length of the Rhine River, ending the Rhine portion in the Swiss city of Basel.

Guests will also experience the waterways of Southern France, commencing in Beaune before transferring to Chalon-sur-Saône for the southbound cruise to Arles that takes in approximately 500 kilometers of the Rhône River. Places such as Mâcon, Ardèche National Park, Avignon, Uzés and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence are supported by information provided by experienced guides. Highlights include the landscapes of Arles, Lyon, Heidelberg Castle, Les Hospices de Beaune, Pont du Gard, Benedictine Abbey of Cluny and the Black Forest.
