Scenic Cruises says it's been monitoring the situation with Eastern European flooding 'round the clock. "Fortunately no departures have had to be cancelled and we have been able to continue operating our itineraries," the line said in a statement for guests issued today.

The line said its June 10 and June 12 departures from Amsterdam will embark as scheduled there.

However, the embarkation process for the June 10 and June 12 departures from Budapest will be affected. "It is our expectation at this time the ships will be unable to dock in Budapest on those dates," the statement said.

So, those ships will instead dock in another location that is yet to be determined. Scenic guests will be transferred directly to each ship or alternatively overnighted in Budapest (depending on flight arrival schedules) and then be transferred to the ship the following day.

Scenic said the situation on the Danube continues to be a concern although "it is our understanding that the water levels are dropping."

That said, the flooding may not allow for uninterrupted cruising on the June 10 and June 12 departures in both directions, according to the line.

Scenic noted that "ship swaps are a possibility" but, if necessary, it's not an issue the line said. Scenic schedules its voyages so a second ships is usually nearby.

All ships are virtually identical in standards and layout, Scenic noted so the guest experience would be seamless.
