This Week in River Cruise - What to Expect From the Queen of the MississippiSeptember 10, 2012
Phyllis Dale, a nationally-recognized travel agent and small-ship cruise expert, christened American Cruise Lines’ Queen of the Mississippi to usher in the company’s first-ever season on the Mississippi River on Saturday, August 25, 2012, in Nashville, Tennessee. Following the ceremony, Queen of the Mississippi set sail at full capacity on an eight-day voyage from Nashville to St. Louis.
Travel Agent had a chance to speak with Dale regarding her first impressions of the new river vessel.
The christening followed the new river vessel’s pre-inaugural cruise from New Orleans, which departed the weekend of August 4, 2012. The vessel has huge staterooms and suites; all are a minimum of 300 square feet. Decks 2, 3 and 4 have private balconies, and some of those have glass doors for the best outdoor views. River cruisers dine in a main dining room with open seating, free unlimited beer and wine with lunch and dinner, as well as a pre-dinner cocktail hour. Two alternative venues, Sky Lounge and Top Deck Cafe, feature lighter fare, and the ship has multiple lounges, including the Paddlewheel Lounge and the Magnolia Lounge.
