Viking to Welcome Viking Prestige in July

Viking River Cruises announced that the christening of Viking Prestige will take place in Amsterdam, on June 30, 2011. Janice Farrar Titus, wife of the late Warren Titus, will serve as the ship’s godmother.

Viking Prestige, the company’s second “green” ship and the first of 10ships in its $250 million fleet expansion program, will make its debut in Europe in July 2011 with a 15-day Grand European Tour. Throughout the remainder of the 2011 season, it will follow the 8-day Romantic Danube itinerary, traveling from Budapest to Nuremberg (or reverse) and visiting ports in Hungary, Austria and Germany.

The 188-passenger rivercruise ship, made with an efficient, hybrid propulsion system, was designed by Norwegian maritime architects Yran & Storbraaten. It will be equipped with all-outside staterooms and French balconies on both the Upper and Middle decks. Additionally, the ship will have a single-seating restaurant, an observation lounge and bar, a library, and sun deck all encompassing the views.
