Air France has introduced a series of measures to enable its customers to change or postpone their trip to either Guadeloupe or Martinique. A spokesperson for Martinique told Travel Agent that “there's a labor strike happening in Guadeloupe and Martinique currently that is impacting much of the commercial sector.” The strike, according to our source, started in Guadeloupe a little more than a month ago but has spread to Martinique as recently as 12 days ago.

The tourism sector, however, in Martinique has not been affected greatly, but Air France is still taking all precautions for travel to both destinations. According to an Air France release, passengers who had intended to go to Pointe à-Pitre or Fort-de-France between now and March 15 can either postpone their trip at no extra cost up until March 15, 2010, in the same booking class or choose another destination on the Air France network, up until June 14, subject to payment of a fare supplement if applicable. These measures are applicable to all customers holding an Air France ticket, regardless of whether the ticket was bought from the airline, a travel agent or a tour operator.
