Austrian Airlines has announced its new flight service from Los Angeles to Vienna. The airline’s first time flying from the west coast will offer up to six direct flights per week on a Boeing 777 starting April 2017, and as of summer 2017, up to 44 weekly flights from North America with the Austria Airlines.

After Chicago, Newark and Miami, Los Angeles marks the airline’s fourth new flight destination and its biggest leap into the U.S. The seasonally served route will be flown by Austrian Airline’s currently existing fleet. Those traveling from Los Angeles will also be able to easily embark on flights to other destinations as well, as an expected two-thirds of passengers are thought to transfer flights at the Vienna hub.

Austrian Airlines will operate a Boeing 777 from Los Angeles to Vienna daily, except Sundays, during summer 2017 with flights departing around 3:00 p.m. The Lufthansa Group offers flights from Los Angeles to other European cities including, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.

In its summer flight schedule, Austrian Airlines will offer a total of up to 44 weekly non-stop flights from North America, including up to five times per week from Miami, a maximum of six weekly flights from both Los Angeles and Toronto, and up to one flight a day from Washington and Chicago. Austrian Airlines will continue to offer thirteen weekly flights from New York; however, flight times from New York’s JFK will be adjusted as of March 27, 2017. Of the six weekly flights from New York, four of the departures will be shifted.

The new trans-continental route adds to Austria Airline’s existing portfolio as Austria’s largest carrier, operating a global network of 130 destinations.
