Delta Launches Málaga Service

November 2, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

On June 4, 2008, Delta Air Lines will introduce nonstop service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and the Pablo Picasso International Airport in Málaga, Spain.

Not only is June the start of tourist season in Spain, but summer is the host season to a slew of festivals in and around Málaga, including one of the city’s biggest: the Málaga Fair in August. (The launch, however, falls short of one of the city’s more famous festivals—Semana Santa, or Holy Week, which takes place over the seven days preceding Easter Sunday.)

At first, departing flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 46 business-class seats and 138 economy-class seats. Return flights will operate Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, using dual-class, 174-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

On July 8, 2008, the carrier will increase the service to five times a week. Delta will use Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the flights, featuring 46 business-class seats and 138 coach seats. Flights depart JFK at 5:05 p.m. and arrive in Málaga at 7 a.m. the following morning. Return flights depart at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in New York at 11:50 a.m.
