Summer and fall travel from New York City to the Caribbean island of Barbados is getting a boost as JetBlue adds a new route from JFK to Barbados and Air Jamaica launches seasonal service between the two airports as well.
Shortly after announcing plans to launch service between Boston and Baltimore/Washington, JetBlue is looking to add flights to Barbados in October. It is currently subject to receipt of government operating authority. Flights are expected to go on sale in June. The new flight will be the latest step in JetBlue's international expansion in 2009.
Meanwhile, Air Jamaica is boosting its seasonal service to from New York to Barbados in anticipation of family travel for the summer as well as holiday travel for Crop Over. From July 2 to August 30, the carrier will operate two flights per week with departures from JFK every Thursday and Sunday at 12:50 a.m. arriving in Barbados at 5 a.m. Return flights depart Barbados at 6:30 a.m. for arrival at JFK at 11:30 a.m.
