Sports Express, LLC, a provider of door-to-door luggage and sports equipment collection and delivery, has merged with UK-based competitor First Luggage to comprise the largest specialized provider of luggage delivery in the world.
Because Sports Express serves primarily an American audience traveling within the U.S. while First Luggage specializes in international deliveries, the merger will create synergies for both companies. Customers of the respective companies may continue making reservations through the existing reservation systems and call centers.
Gideon Kasfiner, CEO of First Luggage, has been appointed CEO of the newly merged group, while Jon Trevelise, CEO of Sports Express, will become COO. Larry Welte was appointed CFO and Nigel Freedman will remain as commercial director.
