Travel Agent’s Jose Barreiro continues to feed us live reports from Tianguis Turistico in Acapulco and recently told us about a meeting he had with Stephen E. Austin, executive director of the promotion board of the Mexico Tourism Board.
“All the key players are here with us at Tianguis 2009 in Acapulco; the tour operators, the wholesalers and the travel agency community,” says Austin. “Business is getting done and relationships are being strengthened. “We are so appreciative of all the support we are getting from the travel trade and for their confidence in Mexico's tourism industry. We recognize this is a difficult time given recent events but we are doing all the right things and continue to move forward."
Barreiro told us the stands were filled with people for the second day of the show and that there was “a mood of solidarity and support of the Mexican tourism industry.”
