Nexion Hosts Marketing Symposium for Travel Agents

Nexion, a host agency for independent travel professionals, recently hosted its first-ever Master Marketing Symposium in Minneapolis.

From June 20-22, both new travel agent members and those with years of experience were able to sharpen their marketing techniques and in-depth industry knowledge so as to strengthen their businesses and better serve their clients, according to a Nexion press release.

Symposium participants formed small groups and were assigned a supplier-partner executive to guide them on how to create the most successful marketing plan for their mock businesses. Educational opportunities included classes from industry experts in marketing, public relations and social media. Travel agents were also offered tutorials on internal Nexion tools that are available for members.

Attendees were also able to network with supplier executives during the “Marketing Zone” portion of the program and make appointments with Nexion’s on-site marketers to take advantage of and go over services such as branding and logos, writing effective emails, lead generation profiles and building content for social media.

Attendees of the symposium also created a capstone project, which involved developing and presenting a marketing plan for a fictional business. As part of the capstone project, they were able to receive on-site coaching from marketing experts there.

Jackie Friedman, president of Nexion, said in the release that marketing can be challenging for travel professionals. The goal of the symposium was to give Nexion members “a strong foundation of marketing excellence, and provide them with tactic they can use in their own businesses,” she said, as they know it is a “necessary part of achieving business success.”

LouLu Lima, a Nexion member who attended the symposium, said in the release that she makes it a point to educate herself with all of the programs that the host agency has to offer. She said that this program gave her tools to use in her business along with how to use them and being successful – strategy, networking and doing things “the right way” are important, she added.

Nexion’s member attendees will have access to follow-up online coaching from the agency as well as industry experts as an extension of the symposium.
