Travel Agents in Britain Face a Perception Problem

Travel agents do not offer ‘best value for money', according to a new survey in the UK.

Only 19 percent of British travelers believe that they get the best value for money from a travel agent, according to the YouGov poll.

The survey also revealed that experience and knowledge are the qualities people most appreciate in a travel agent.

The online poll of 2,220 consumers, conducted on behalf of Stena Line valued an agents’ knowledge, while , found that 57 percent8 percent did not find agents knowledgeable. Almost half of those questioned (43 percent) said they valued agents as “someone to talk to.”

People in the capital are more critical of travel agents. More than half of Londoners (51 percent) complained that agents lacked knowledge and 43 percent said they felt pressure from agents to make a booking. Only 37 percent of Londoners valued agents’ knowledge and experience.
