Siberia Gets New Courtyard by Marriott

Siberia's makeover continues today with the opening of the first Courtyard by Marriott to open in the region. Located within walking distance of the Kirov Square, Angara River and the historic Drama Theatre, the 208-room Courtyard by Marriott Irkustk City Center is a good home base for exploring Eastern Siberia. Irkutsk, located along the Trans-Siberian Railway, is also about 40 miles from the UNESCO world heritage site of Lake Baikal, the world’s largest fresh water lake.

Geared towards business travelers, the hotel has plenty of meeting rooms. Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, noted that the property is the first branded hotel in Irkutsk, an important energy hub in Europe.
