The Park Hyatt St. Kitts construction site recently received a visit from several top Hyatt regional executives to review the progress being made and to begin putting plans in place for the hotel’s operations, which are scheduled to commence in early 2016.
The development of Park Hyatt St. Kitts is a significant component of Hyatt’s growing brand portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The delegation, headed by Myles McGourty, Hyatt’s senior vice president of field operations for Latin America and the Caribbean, was delighted by the advanced pace of the construction project. While on island, Hyatt executives met with Minister of Tourism & International Transport, Sen. Richard Skerritt, and a team of government officials to discuss the upcoming marketing and human resource needs for the planned 200-key luxury resort, of which 134 rooms are expected to be open in early 2016.
“Hyatt is recognized as a leader in promoting and nurturing a positive and diverse workplace environment and its strong commitment to these issues in support of the future Park Hyatt St. Kitts is evident," said Skerritt. "Addressing matters of people empowerment, an underlying principle of our Labour Party Government, is a value we share. I am particularly pleased to learn about the company´s philosophy in supporting the hiring of local employees, and providing them with the necessary training needed in order to develop their skills for this unique project.”
McGourty and his team also visited other tourism products on St. Kitts and Nevis and expressed satisfaction at their quality, and the direction that the destination is taking.
“We are very excited to be bringing the Park Hyatt brand to a destination like St. Kitts, which is rich in culture, history and natural beauty," said McGourty. "Park Hyatt St. Kitts will evoke a strong sense of place through its design and the unforgettable experiences its guests will enjoy. I am delighted to see and experience the quality and enthusiasm of the Kittitian workforce. We remain committed to fostering future associates that will help one another achieve their full potential to better serve our guests, and each other, every day.”
