The St. Kitts Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism report that new development Kittitian Hill is successfully bringing new jobs and economic impact to the local St. Kitts community.
While still in pre-opening construction phase, the new real estate and hospitality destination already employs approximately 400 individuals on the construction site, most of whom live in surrounding communities, with plans to involve more.
“Our Government is very pleased with what is happening at Kittitian Hill,” said Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport.
“In addition to its appeal to the more upscale traveler, the model for sustainability in Caribbean resort development that is unfolding here exemplifies the positive impact that tourism can have on the community and environment. I am excited about the future of this product and look forward to its opening.”
Kittitian Hill is being constructed by small local contractors, and Sedona Resorts’ management is already on site recruiting staff with the aim to employ up to another 100 individuals in hotel staff positions in time for the property’s opening. Kittitian Hill is the work of visionary Trinidad-born developer Val Kempadoo, who views the project as “a catalyst for change, bringing lasting benefits to the local people and economy.” Kempadoo’s philosophy is anchored in a broader view of authenticity and sustainability, going beyond the environment to encompass arts and culture, social accountability, economic development and environmental conservation.

Also central to the Kittitian Hill philosophy is a commitment to agro-tourism and farming on the island, with its 400-acre fertile farmland to allow for integration between tourism and food production. In addition to employment opportunities on the farm, Kittitians can look forward to increased local production, which will positively impact the overall food supply on St Kitts. To provide an authentic Kittitian experience for guests, the team at Kittitian Hill will promote community interaction via a weekly farmers market on site, fishing with local fisherman or teaching in a local school. Furthermore, Kittitian Hill continues to be actively involved in a number of charitable community projects, such as the Help a Child Program and the Global Environment Foundation.
Designed by Bill Bensley and managed by Sedona Resorts, the $600 million development will have private villas, boutique hotels and a Village filled with restaurants, shops and experiences. The first hospitality amenities will include a boutique hotel at Belle Mont Farm, a collection of villas at Yaya Groves; an 18-hole Ian Woosnam-designed championship Irie Fields golf course and The Golden Lemon beach bar and restaurant.
